Aquila Creative Named Australia's Best
Leading design agency Aquila Creative has been named the coveted Gold Award winner for Stationary (Category 9) at the National Print Awards held at the Sydney Convention Centre.
Aquila Creative Director Karl Erakovic said he was honoured to have been recognised by industry peers who know the challenges of consistently delivering fresh creative solutions within the confines of traditional stationery.
“Winning the Gold Award for Queensland in 2009 was amazing, so to also be named the national Gold Award winner for stationery is just amazing,” Karl said.
“What makes this even more surprising is that we didn’t even know we were entered in the awards – our printing partners D&D Colour did this on our behalf!
“D&D Colour did an incredible job of executing our vision and direction, which also highlights its high level of skill and expertise” Karl said.
A notoriously competitive category within the National Print Awards, the showcase piece of the stationary set is a meticulously designed embossed business card sitting inside a tailored embossed sleeve, complete with a die-cast hole revealing the contact number inside. Completing the set are embossed letterheads, embossed envelopes complete with a rich red design on the inside together with a greeting message, as well as tailored CD/DVD packages.
“For Aquila Creative, design is more than just producing something that is simply aesthetically pleasing – it’s about crafting a design that embodies all the aspects of what our clients represent,” Karl said. “The best way we thought we could show this was to practice as we preach, and I think the results speak for themselves!”

Aquila Creative’s uncompromising commitment to following through from initial design concepts to the type of paper, the mechanics, the print supplier and printing methods was recognised with a prestigious industry award - Silver PICA award.
Showcasing delectable desserts in a manner that is both enticing and commercial can be quite a challenge in the highly competitive food industry.
However, when Country Chef called on Aquila to create a high-end updatable product catalogue, we rose to the challenge and were recognised with Silver PICA for outstanding design and print.
Aquila Creative managed the whole process from concept to production, ensuring that the original creative vision agreed with the client was never compromised.

Business with meaning
In making the move from agency environments to establishing his own studio, Principle Designer, Karl Erakovic, had one core objective – to work with people and organisations with whom he felt a genuine affinity, enabling his passion for their work to be reflected in the visual personalities he created for them.
One such organisation is the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF).
When the ACCF decided to redesign its corporate identity, the brief to Aquila Creative was multi-faceted.
The corporate identity needed to tackle head-on an intensely personal, and often challenging, subject matter. It needed to relay a feeling of hope and optimism for a bright future.It needed to be accessible and universal – resonating with people of varying ages, cultures and backgrounds.And it needed to be efficient – while bright colours were desirable, as a not for profit organisation, ACCF was keen to avoid costly print processes.
The solution: a cheerful, engaging logo developed using the base colours magenta and yellow which enables the Foundation an economical method of printing as printers can run the material with other print jobs at minimal cost.
Aquila Creative is also proud to have partnered with other not-for-profits including Impact - Youth Against Crime (Queensland) and SIDS (Northern Territory).
